"Being on the road with P!NK, playing arenas and festivals with audiences of over 100,000, I need to use the most hip sounding and reliable equipment available. The Muse Receptor is the best of these worlds. I finally found the missing link in my rig. Now, I can use all my favorite soft synths and plug-ins at live gigs without dragging around a laptop or desktop computer. With its unlimited expandability and roadworthiness, the Muse Receptor is truly the swiss-army knife of the modern synthesizer."
“The Muse Receptor provides me a simple solution to the problem of how to transport all those cool plugins previously locked up in my home studio. And with the Receptor handling the heavy lifting, I don’t have to buy a new computer every couple of years and experience the joys of transferring my entire life to a new machine.
Visitors who check out my gear on the scoring stage must think it’s a bit peculiar when I take them around the back of the rig and start blathering on about UniWire and how all the sounds are coming from this one box down this single yellow Ethernet cable. But they quietly excuse themselves at the earliest opportunity and set off for the food table, leaving me to revel privately in the elegance of the Receptor’s design.
Since firing the Giga and hardware samplers back in 2005, my setup time has dropped from an hour of frequently tearing my hair out to 15 minutes of plugging in a couple of cables while chatting with the other musicians. And the signal flow–multiple outputs from the VST instruments into separate channel strips in Receptor Remote Control and on to the eight bus outs of my FireWire interface–it’s unbelievably slick. I’m able to tweak the routing even after having been up all night putting all the little black dots on the page.”
- Alan Steinberger, LA keyboard session ace (March of the Penguins, Talladega Nights, Anchorman, Firefly, King of the Hill, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Crawford)
"The Muse Receptor Pro has become the hub of my operations, both for live and studio work. I am able to carry the best soft-sounds in a stable rack-unit, reducing the amount of hardware needed, while at the same time using a much more powerful and reliable option than running soft-synth's on a lap-top.
Receptor's Remote Control gives me access to patch editing in a very concise and user-friendly way, via a Cross-over Ethernet cable to my Mac. I am able to quickly create complex multi's and the Z-load feature enables these large files to load quickly in a live situation. I can also run my hardware synths or my Rhodes through the audio inputs, thus turning my Receptor into an effects processor!
This unit has completely changed my approach to work. As a session keyboardist. I now have a wealth of options that, until recently, were not available to me. I look forward to the subsequent progression of this amazing piece of kit. Thank you Muse Research: You have broken through a sonic barrier!"
"Receptor is a great product. I have used it on a ton of my projects including playing with Ian Hunter and Robert Plant. In addition to the product itself being great, the customer support at Muse is just about the best I've experienced anywhere"

"After being off the road for couple of years, and exploring all the new software technologies for music making, I've found it difficult to imagine dealing with hardware keyboards again while touring. I'm still not an advocate of using computers to run Virtual Instruments for Live gigs, because of road-worthiness, but the truth is that the quality and variety of virtual instruments surpasses hardware options in ways that are mind-boggling."
"And then along came Receptor, an open system where you decide how you want things to sound, so you're not attached to any manufacturer's sounds in particular. Receptor was designed for musicians as well as being designed specifically- but not particularly- for the road. Equally friendly in the studio, the guys at Muse have come up with something that deserves serious consideration, if you're serious about what you do, of course! Support is nothing less than impeccable, OS updates are constantly improving the features, and new plug-ins are always being supported. So, what else can you ask for? For me, Receptor is a dream come true!"
"Four of these babies are on our rig, serving different purposes, including one for the drummer, one for the percussionist, and two for myself. These units, are already serving their intended purpose, but believe or not, everyday I keep on exploring, and discovering new ways with them. My guitar player, David Cabrera, and my Keyboard tech and guru, Michael Bernard, are beginning to lust over some units for themselves as well."
"Receptor is even better than leftover Haggis and lukewarm Irn Bru! No seriously, if i didn't have the Receptors there is no way we'd be able to play half of our songs live without hiring 5 more keyboard players and god knows how many synths."
My Receptor performs like a champ! I'm able to set up an entire gig at home, and I then fly to a gig with only a single rolling travel case that fits in the overhead compartment with me on the plane. Having access to all of my best piano, rhodes, wurly, and orchestra libraries on a live gig without having to bring a computer, interface, or external drive has really changed the game for me. Sprinkle in all the cool analog modeling synths and effects and its easy to see why no keyboard even comes close. At home in the studio, it has taken all the load of running soft synths and effects off of my computer. This is by far the most flexible and best sounding ax I have ever come across, and every day, it seems like I think of a new way to use it.
"Receptor 2+ surprised me with fast load times, sleek design and stable performance. A great tool for my daily musical challenges."
"The Receptor is fantastic! This instrument now allows me to take an essential part of my studio out on the road with me. Over the last few years so much of my sonic palette has shifted from hardware synths to software synths. With this shift I started to wonder how to convert my live rig to be able reproduce these sounds on stage. Along with that was the issue of how to do it in a stable, road-worthy package, that would easily integrate with my live rig. Receptor has answered that call, and then some... overall, I say the Receptor is a winner!"
"We love the Receptor and it's made our lives so much easier... Receptor has been a dream for us. Due to the logistics of how we tour, we need to have three identical sets of gear and the process of building three identical keyboard rigs has always been a serious obstacle for us. Originally I had envisioned replacing the racks of synths and samplers with a laptop. Not only was I concerned about how road-worthy one would be in the hostile environments we perform in, but also the cost was something to consider. Then I found the Receptor and it has changed our lives. I've replaced racks of keyboard modules and samplers with a two-space unit that does far more than the rack it replaced. Being able to take M-Tron and Kontakt on the road and using the new Z-Load Technology has allowed us to duplicate or sample the sounds we used on the albums with zero limitations!"

"When programming and orchestrating on the fly, you have to move fast and have no fear of crashing. As an electronic music designer for Broadway shows such as Spider-Man and Jekyll & Hyde, I continually rely on my RECEPTOR 2+ PROs to deliver the sounds and stability I need. Having a Receptor in the pit means never having to worry 'will my rig crash?!'"
"It's been stupefyingly great to be able to play Ivory II, Spectrasonics Trillian, Lounge Lizard, Kontakt guitar multi-samples through Guitar Rig, and NI Studio Drummer ALL AT ONCE with unbelievably low latency. I am in love with my RECEPTOR 2+ PRO MAX, and I never want to gig without it ever again."
“I got my first Receptor shortly after they were introduced as a way to take some of the heat off of my studio computer as I began to run more and more plug-ins and moved away from hardware synths. I can have the Receptor run my complex String and Orchestral setups and let my computer use its resources for other things.
Currently I’m touring as MD/Keyboardist for Steven Curtis Chapman and love that fact I don’t have to compromise on sound quality even if it’s a fly date. I love the Snapshot mode where I can have all of the show's plug-ins and sounds instantly available, and simply bypass the things I don’t need to save CPU for any given tune. With a single patch change I can get to a completely different set of sounds with no load time.
And I love the flexibility of Receptor's I/O. I use the digital interface in the studio, sending Ivory 2 or Omnisphere's output to my audio interface. Or I'll have four instances of B4 II feeding the analog outputs and into my Trek Preamp to feed my Leslie. The Receptor has never let me down in the many years that I’ve used it. This thing is Rock Solid!”

"The Royal Shakespeare Company commissions new music scores for every production, which encompass a huge variety of styles and genres. Our Receptors increasingly occupy a crucial place within those scores, since they offer a reliable platform in a live performance environment for the sonic requirements of whatever our composers need to achieve, using the virtually endless combination of samples, plugins and sound libraries that are possible with Receptor. The RSC has recently begun to broadcast live to cinemas worldwide, as well as playing live in Stratford and London, so reliability and stability are even more crucial than ever; and with the demands presented by composers such as Emmy-Award-Winning, BAFTA-Nominated Paul Englishby, who scored the recent Richard II and the current Henry IV Parts 1 & 2, there is only one choice for us. Hear us play Receptors at a cinema near you - check out http://onscreen.rsc.org.uk/cinemas-and-tickets/ and also the first release in our series of CDs at http://www.rsc.org.uk/shop/item/62328-richard-ii-music--speeches-cd-2013/"

"The Receptor is the main brain of my live show. Because of the Receptor, I'm able to run the exact soft synths I recorded on Stromata which is something I was never able to recreate before. I also mix analogue into the synths I have running through the Receptor which makes all sorts of spontaneous different textures and I have all my original studio sounds at my fingertips live."

"If I am ever feeling down, all I have to do is think about my Receptor Pro. This is the future of sound. I feel like the Receptor puts me a step ahead, in terms of the sounds I can use, and the layers I can create. The Receptor makes me sound like more than one keyboard player! The connectivity is everything and more than I could ask for, the user interface is perfect, the hardware is top notch and it all comes together to make the huge sound that this thing puts out. I am constantly blown away with the massive samples I can use with virtually no latency.
I have been using my Receptor for about a year on the road and it can handle serious gigging. Don't be afraid to take this thing out on tour, it easily withstands the abuse! (Plus you will get to blow the minds of your fellow musicians and engineers!)
I am eternally grateful to Muse Research for creating such a truly innovative and powerful instrument. I will never play a gig, or go to the studio without my Receptor. Thank you Muse Research!"
Claude LeMay ("Mego")
"With Ivory installed in my Receptor, I have just the right piano sound."
"My Receptor Trio is awesome. It's design, stability, and portability alone is worth every bit of the investment. I'll be using it in the studio as well as on the road with a level of confidence previously unattainable with a traditional computer rig. The Receptor Trio / Presonus 1818vsl combo has opened the door to an incredible amount of versatility. Highly recommended!! Much thanks to Muse Research for creating such a great product!"
"Touring has evolved dramatically over the last few years. I need to deliver big show sound on a small back-line budget. Receptor is the answer to my prayers! I can take samples from the albums with me live thanks to Kontakt, and play any keyboard sound vintage or new. And with Receptor's amazing zoning capabilities, I have a rig that has twice the power of Rick Wakemans using only a couple of rented keyboard controllers. And since the rig needs to travel with me, my two RECEPTOR 2 PROs in a single 4-space Gator flight case, a small cord bag, and my iPad, I can bring my rig with me on the plane to the next gig. Receptor is the answer to any working keyboard player's prayers. It's what I want from life... Guitar Center's keyboard and effects departments in a Box!"
"The flexibility and quality of the Receptor makes it easier for me to get a complex or simple sound to fill a concert hall. It's truly remarkable, and I can't wait to unleash mine in the studio as well. OH YES!!!"
"I'd been considering making the transition during live situations from exclusively utilizing traditional hardware synthesizers towards incorporating software-based instruments into my setup, but had concerns about computer configurations being able to effectively handle the load (and withstand stresses on the road). When I became aware of the Receptor, I realized this was precisely the solution I was looking for, and it's proved itself time and time again. In terms of reliability, ease of use and performance, there's nothing out there that compares to the Receptor."Check out Heart on tour this summer throughout the US and Canada, and be sure to check out their latest album, Jupiter's Darling available worldwide.
"I finally have a simple and easy way to take all of my best sounds with me no matter where I go. Whether I'm in the recording studio or doing a live gig I never feel like I'm having to make do. Doing a session use to mean making sure I had cartage to take my racks of modules and computers, but now I just grab the Receptor and I'm out the door.
My clients are happy since they don't have the added expense of cartage when I'm coming in to the studio of their choice. Also, there's no more having to send the gear days in advance of a live show or session where I'm being flown in. I just love the flexibility the Receptor has given me. Also, I love being able to call up a whole setup just like patches in a module. This is so much easier then trying to do this with a DAW for live shows. And now with Uniwire connecting is easy and way slick! Nice goin'!!"
"I love Receptor, it is exactly what I've been waiting for. Finally I can use the same quality sounds live that I use in the studio without having to worry about a laptop. It is great in the studio as well as it takes some of the burden of processing CPU intensive plug-ins off my main computer. I don't know what I would do without it"
"I've been using RECEPTOR on the road with Reba for over five years. It's proven to be a real workhorse, never letting me down. It's been everywhere with me and I can't imagine playing the show without it. Being able to have the big rack and desktop sounds (and none of the cartage headache) in one box is incredible. In the studio its flexibility is unsurpassed. And I must mention that the support team at Muse is top notch and they have never let me down either!!!!"
"The Muse Receptor has been a great addition to my arsenal. The ability to reliably carry my favorite soft-synths and the superior tone that comes with them is fantastic. What has been the most impressive, however, is how the Receptor has increased my productivity. Complex layers and splits with custom sounds that would have taken hours to program on my hardware workstation now take only minutes, which means I can earn money much more efficiently, and I can spend more time being creative. Thanks for making a fantastic product!"
"Our Receptor module is a crucial ingredient in the sounds we use... It provides unmatched performance, programming, and superior tone... Best of all, night after night, I can always depend on Receptor's reliability, consistency, and roadworthiness... A must have piece of hardware for any high performance keyboard rig!!!"
"When it comes to live performance, you have to give it your best - not only to the audience, but to the music itself because music is more than a profession- its life! I've tried many keyboards in past tours, but never felt more 'alive' than when using Receptor. When I first tried it, I knew my life was never going be the same on stage. You owe it to yourself to play it, and I think you'll agree with me."
Emmanuel Briceno, keyboardist / background vocalist with international superstar JUANES
"The Receptor's great to use on the road with the Terence Blanchard Quintet. I'm able to get just the right sounds by combining different virtual instruments together rather than being limited by one single synthesis engine or sound source. It brings a whole spectrum of sonic possibilities to the live setting that I normally associate with an anchored down studio. Thank you Muse Research!"
Frank Strauss & Brian Monroney
"I've been using the Muse Receptor on my gig with Tom Jones for about six months now, and it really has opened up so many possibilities for me musically. I'm able to run a multitude of virtual instruments and plug-ins, all consolidated in one very stable unit."
"We've been using software instruments onstage with Tom Jones for several years now, running on a dedicated Macintosh G4 which required a whole rack to itself including the screen and audio/MIDI interfaces. With the arrival of the Receptor we've eliminated bulky the G4 rack, and taken our virtual instrument use to an entirely new level."
"Tom's keyboardist, Frank Strauss, plays Ivory for his main piano sound, and a whole suite of Native Instruments products including B4 II, Absynth, Pro-53 and Kompakt. That we can have these superb-sounding instruments all running on a single super-stable 2-space device is just fantastic. I have a Receptor myself for writing and production work, and combined with my PowerBook it makes a killer portable studio."
"The ability to customize my own sounds on Receptor is essential to me, and the results have proven to be better than anything I could get in a workstation keyboard. I did an extensive comparison with the best pianos out there, and Receptor running Ivory came out on top by a mile. For covering the music of Steely Dan, Receptor covers the wide range of keyboards they use... and delivers sonic results you can really hear. There's no way I could match that using sounds from a Roland or Yamaha."
"Receptor represents the natural evolution of the Virtual Instrument. The ability to really use many of the VSTs that are now considered to be part of any professional musician's arsenal has been elusive at best... until now. Programs like Ivory, DFH Superior and Atmosphere have become truly playable and stable. No more power, RAM or latency issues. It's like the old days of buying a rock-solid hardware synth - but with today's dramatic sonic quality and unlimited possibilities. Even with four computers in my studio, the Receptor has turned into a real focal point - and it's effortless to transfer that power to the live show. The future is here."
"Or maybe it would be more accurate to say, - 'it's the shit!'"
"The Muse Receptor is a powerful and essential addition to my keyboard rig. I now have all of my main studio plugins accessible to use in arenas and stages all over the world. It is built to deal with tough road conditions and I never worry about it traveling or crashing on stage.
The Receptor is more than capable of handling any amount of virtual instruments and I am getting instant high-end results.
Both my studio and live set-ups are transferrable and interchangeable now - what a technical innovation for musicians as myself who have to equally function in both worlds!
Thanks Muse! Studio quality on the road, now that's what I'm talking about!!"
"I'm having fun on my 2006 concert tour with a Receptor as one of my main software synth and sample player sources. This small rack-mount device is such a convenient way to handle some of the most popular synths and samples out there for studio and live work. The internal hard drive can store and make available, simultaneously, as many of the largest sample libraries from various manufacturers that you'd ever want to use. Just add a monitor, keyboard, and mouse directly without an external computer or use Muse's Receptor Remote software that works comfortably with my iMac or new MacBook Pro. I love the single Ethernet cable and Muse's "UniWire" technology that allows all the bi-directional MIDI and audio data to communicate easily and quickly between my Receptor and my Mac."Checkout Herbie's latest album, Possibilities at www.herbiehancock.com
"I'm completely blown away by my Receptor - it has changed everything for me. It took about two seconds to get the patches off my laptop into it and was really easy to map to my foot pedal. It's working perfectly, and I'll be happily losing sleep for the next few months creating and exploring the new sounds I can make with it. I can't tell you how much of a difference it made in our live show - it was by far the MVP of our latest tour. It's opened up a whole new chapter in what I can do with my guitar... I'm extremely happy with and inspired by my new Receptor... I'm so glad I found you guys!"
"The Receptor 2+Pro Max is an amazing accomplishment from the Muse team allowing me to have instant access via uni wire to all my libraries on the fly within Protools without having to run 6 different computers. Freakin' awesome, guys!!!"
"Wearing the many hats of jazz pianist/electronic keyboardist/producer & composer, I've shared perspectives of both studio musicians and live musicians. As a "player", it's crucial that the keyboard response time is as low as possible but often, software-based synths and samplers incur high latency because of the typical need for higher buffer settings on the computer. However you find a solution, the integrity of the part will most likely be compromised as a result.
Finally, thanks to Muse Research, you can load the Receptor up with as big a sample as you want, and the latency is not an issue, resulting in a playable sound - for either live or a performance in the studio.
For live, the receptor is ideal because it's as powerful as having a G5 tower loaded with VIs and plugs, except that you don't have to actually cart around a delicate computer/monitor/keyboard & mouse. And even better, it's MIDI programmable, and automatically reboots to its last loaded state, which means that under normal live situations, you don't need a monitor, mouse or keyboard, and it can just sit unobtrusively in a 2-space rack while giving you the best studio-quality sounds."
"Whether it's scoring for television, Sea World, Six Flags Theme parks, or just everyday session work, the Muse Research Receptor has quickly become the workhorse for both my VSTis and my guitar processing. It is equally at home as the front end for my guitars, or as the home of my softsynths and sample libraries. Both in the studio and on stage, I turn to the Receptor for inspiration. It is so user-friendly that I forget it's a computer. It must be a computer with a heart."
"Receptor is the centerpiece of my organ rig, and has been my companion on gigs for years, all around the world, and it has never let me down. It allows me to explore a broad range of sound palettes in a live setting, and shines in the studio as well"
John Donaldson and Kerry Minnear
"The money saved in Chiropractic and Osteopathy Bills is worth the price of admission alone. With just about every 'prog' sound known to man contained within this magic box we remain in a state of shock and disbelief. The Receptor is without doubt an invention par excellence and we would like to buy the inventor(s) a very large drink!"
Kerry Minnear and John Donaldson of Three Friends play the music of Gentle Giant on Receptors.
"It was so nice to see those 6 ft racks leave my studio. I had been wondering how to have the sound palette I use on my Pro Tools rig at home with me on the road and at outside sessions. A friend of mine then told me about the Receptor... a prayer answered. It's so great to have all of the best virtual synths with me wherever and whenever I need them... Thanks Muse Research!"
Jonathan Coleman is the Keyboardist with Trace Adkins
"The Receptor lets me bring my custom tweaked Ivory sound with me at all times, and gives me the flexibility to always sound like 'me' when traveling across the world performing."
"Touring has become so much more fun with this cool piece of gear which is translating into better performances. I've used the Receptor in a lot of different environments - some where I would never ever consider using a lap-top...and the outputs sound stellar. Awesome job Muse Research!"
Jonathan Fritzén, Billboard #1 Keyboardist, www.jonathanfritzen.com
"It is the most powerful rack unit I have ever experienced in my music-making life. It's mind-boggling to think about the sonic potential that lives inside this box"
As a pianist, a vivid and realistic sound is what thrills me the most. A sound full of life that responds accurately to my playing has been my quest for many years. This is especially important when you play for one of the best selling latin gospel artists in the world. But now my search is over, thanks to the Receptor.
With my Receptor, I don't miss having a Grand Piano or the Fender Rhodes when I'm on the road. All my needs on the stage or the studio are covered by the Receptor. For versatility and life-like sounds in a single box, Receptor is the only choice.
"I use Receptors for my orchestral samples so I can concentrate on the music - these things are rock solid!"
Kerry and Catherine Marx
"We love our Receptor! If Catherine's not using it with Reba and Kelly or in a studio downtown, I'm using it as an effects device in our studio. Some couples fight over money, we fight over Receptor time!"

"My Receptor is the best investment I've made in a piece of gear in years!! This thing is absolutely amazing. After only 30 minutes, the Receptor 2 Pro Max convinced me that Virtual Instruments are the way of the future for getting killer live sounds. Muse Research did a great job with making it simple to program an entire show's worth of sounds in no time at all. The company is clearly at the forefront of delivering Virtual Instruments in a stable, reliable platform that is very road worthy. I'm very excited to be part of the Muse Research family!"

"Coming from a Hip Hop and R&B background, I used to run out like everyone else to buy the most popular keyboards that came out each year because producer "xyz" uses it. But around 3 years ago I sold all my keyboards and sound modules and got into the world of virtual instruments and custom sound libraries."
"I tried to get into computer-based sequencing and running plug-ins with host software, but quickly found it was neither easy or reliable. I got frustrated with trying to build the perfect computer and all the hassles of trying to get all of my different recording software programs to work well together. After lugging a PC tower to a tracking session, I knew I had to find a better way, but I didn't want to give up using plug-ins."
"That's when I went back to a using a hardware sequencer and started looking for an answer to my VSTi problem. My search was over when I found Receptor. I've used Nuendo, Sonar, Project5, V-stack and even Forte to try to run VSTs, but I found Receptors' design and interface to be simpler and more effective. Even better, now I'm able to use combinations of plug-ins that would've crashed my old PC system."
"Receptor is easy to use, easy to update, and is really portable. Now as opposed to spending $2000 plus for every new keyboard that comes out, you can spend $100 here or $200 there for new instruments and effects that are well worth the cost, and not to mention the hundreds of free plug-ins that are available. This unit has changed to the way I create tenfold. I'm able to do everything I need to with just one unit but who knows? I may get another unit in the near future to double my power."Credits include: The Notorious B.I.G: Duets (The Final Chapter) (Certified Platinum), Nelly: Sweatsuit (Certified Gold) Jeulz Santana (Certified Gold) and various other major projects.
"The Receptor is a masterpiece! This is the piece of gear I have been waiting for for the last 15-20 years. It is brilliantly designed, by musicians, for musicians, so they have thought of everything. The company consists of some of the brightest and best in the business, and they have been completely helpful and friendly.
And best of all, it works! it is very solidly made, and built to take the abuse of live playing. It is also very powerful, so it's not even phased by a setup that would choke even the most high end laptops. And I can bring my favorite sounds from the studio into any live situation. The Receptor is an idea whose time has come. Thank you Muse Research!"
Kit Walker, keyboardist for Airto
"I've been using Receptors on the current Goo Goo Dolls tour and they've been fantastic. They run all the plug-ins that we need, they've been absolutely reliable, and they respond as fast as the hardware synths that they've replaced... only they sound a lot better!"
"Being able to use organs like B4 and symphonic libraries like East West Gold live has really enriched the GGD's sound, and being able to re-create sounds like the mutated pianos that were used on "Let Love In" has helped the band sound much more like the album, which everyone appreciates. Receptor has really changed the way I approach keyboards - it's the best of both worlds with none of the drawbacks!"

"I've had my eye on Receptor for a couple of years now and just recently made the leap. I wish I had done it sooner, as Receptor is an amazing music instrument that has become an essential part of my rig."
"I use my Receptor in a rather idiosyncratic way: it serves as the primary DSP engine for radically transforming the sound of my Mouseketier electroacoustic sound-sculpture--an instrument made of junk, hardware, and found objects. I use layers upon layers of effects to modify the acoustic sounds in unique ways, and the power and versatility of Receptor makes it possible to take simple percussive stimuli and turn them into truly expressive and arresting timbres.
"I've used my Receptor (version 1.0 !) for years, dragging it around the world to countless live New Music Festivals where it has always been at the core of my performances. I've just upgraded to the RECEPTOR 2+ PRO and have seen an immediate increase in processing power. This enhancement over its already capable predecessor will undoubtedly push the limits of my creativity as I reconsider what I can do with all of this power... [evil laugh...]"
"I started our tour using a Receptor for organ sounds and some samples we use live. We've since added another unit running Ivory for piano sounds, which is really nice. We're really pleased with our Receptors and Muse Research has amazing tech support; they actually pick up the phone when you have a question!"

"I've been using VST instruments in my live set-up since 2004 but often worried about the stability of a PC running Windows in such an environment. Last year I bought my first Receptor and for the first time I can really make use of the huge range of VST instruments and FX that are available without worrying about my computer not being able to cope. Both the software and hardware in the Receptor are so well put together I'm confident there'll be no surprises on stage every night. Nice one Muse!"
"We have to put a lot of faith in our gear every day, as well as when broadcasting live to 200 million viewers- the reliability of our Muse Receptors is without question. They were the primary devices we used in Roy Bittan's rig for the broadcast, and of course, they performed perfectly."
"The Muse Receptor is a fantastic device that allows me the freedom to focus on what really matters and not how close I am getting to my computers limits while playing for Outreach Events and Sunday services. You will not be disappointed!"
"The Receptor is the ultimate plug-in host for the live environment. They're rock solid, hugely powerful and they sound great. I can think of no better recommendation than the fact that we programmed ours in rehearsals and over a hundred shows later, we haven't had to do any more than turn them on each day to get exactly what we want from them. No crashes, no USB cables, no spinning beach balls or hour-glasses, just rock solid gigging night after night."
"Receptor is my main workhorse on stage. I have found them to be remarkably stable, and they easily accommodate the diversity of my sonic needs. I love layering them with my keyboards to get even fatter sounds, but on their own they can do it all! Bravo to the folks at Muse Research for this truly groundbreaking product!"
"I can see the day when a band will arrive at a gig with two or three Receptors, a couple of guitars and mics, and a keyboard controller. They'll set up in two minutes and be ready to play. Each song will be set up with one press of a button -- all guitar vocal and keyboard sounds will be pre-programmed for each song as multis-- and at the end of the gig they will break down in two minutes and be on their way."
"My Muse Receptor is the only rack unit which allows me to sound the way I would like to. Whether in the studio or on stage, writing or performing I have a personalized sound source that's growing as I grow. It rises to the occasion for any application, no matter what the technical needs."
"The ability to run the latest greatest vintage keyboard simulators while still being able to have a powerful sampler all in one box is one my favorite attributes, but pluggin' in a guitar or any other sound source takes it over the top. Truly a one box solution. I have to say i like many of the free plug ins that Muse has found as well. Mr. Tramp is my favorite wurli plug-in."
"Faced with the dilemma of buying a new computer I decided to take the Receptor route instead. No need for that 2nd computer, as Receptor takes care of all my soft synth needs and frees up my laptop to do its thing. Couple that with the live aspect of a keyboard and Receptor.... now I can do some major sound damage without getting a hernia."
"The Receptor has been such a great addition to my set up! I'm now able to replace my entire Giga Studio rack with Receptors running Native Instruments Kontakt 3. I'm able to access our entire Giga library thanks to the seamless conversion into Kontakt format now that Native Instruments is working with Chicken Systems on the conversion programming. I also have my entire Quantum Leap Symphonic Platinum XP Library installed, Native's Komplete 5, as well as Spectrasonics Atmosphere, Stylus RMX, Trilogy, Synthogy Ivory and Italian Grand. All this creative and expressive power is all in one place, running seamlessly and right at my fingertips."
"I also want to acknowledge Muse Research for their "Hands on" approach to customer support and helping us get everything installed and working with their expert advice. What a great group of people to have standing behind a product that is already a stand-alone success. I am delighted with the sonic quality, the ease of use, and the power that the Receptor delivers over computer-based platforms. The amount of music I am able to deliver live and in the studio has become a matter of ease and speed now. In fact the latest show I am performing with Yanni has 6 Receptors in use on stage. Thank you Muse Research for this outstanding product. The musical possibilities are endless now with Receptor(s) in my hands!"
"My Receptors provide probably 80% of my live sounds, and there's literally nothing else that can provide the sheer quality and breadth of sounds of the Receptor. It's rock solid and dependable, and has staggeringly low latency. I routinely run 10-12 heavyweight plugins simultaneously with IQ, and the Receptor doesn't even break into a sweat. Omnisphere and Ivory II run particularly well, and I love being able to use them live. It's the ultimate live sound-making monster, and it baffles me that not all keyboard players use them!"
"The Receptor 2 Pro Max is an incredible piece of gear. If you are the serious musician this is a must have unit! The ability to use any of the plug in's and the sounds without slowing down your computer processor is absolutely amazing! Getting Receptor means I no longer have to bring a ton of keyboards to a session or a gig... just a controller and the Receptor. There it is!"
"With this unit, trust me, when my sounds are heard rather in the studio or at a gig people are blown away. Thank you Muse Research for the Receptor 2 Pro Max - you are the best!"
"A thoroughly unrivalled, top class piece of kit! Easy to navigate and reliable, it does what it says on the box. I now use it for a large portion of sounds live, and also in the studio for dedicated orchestral setups, etc. Be sure to select a Receptor, never refuse a Muse, erm... compris?"
"I've been using Receptors for three years now in tough touring situations across the globe and they are nothing but rock solid! I can run Ivory, Akoustik Piano, and a ton of Kontakt instruments at the same time with patch changes on the fly and it's never failed me. I simply can't say the same of laptop-based live programs which have crashed mid show... not pretty..."
"I always love the look of confusion I get from new FOH engineers as they try to figure out where all the rich sounds are coming from when all they see is a piece o' crap controller and only a two-rack space Receptor..."
"On a show like Rockstar:Supernova, the house band needs to cover a broad range of songs styles and be ready for anything. Receptor gives me a huge arsenal of sounds and plug-ins to work with, enabling me to cover any style and allowing me to venture into new territory as well. It's become my "swiss army knife", providing sounds that aren't in my keyboards, and layering with sounds that are. Without a doubt, Receptor has become an essential part of my rig"
"It's road tough, it takes the load off my computer in the studio, all my plug-ins fit, it has all the I/O interfaces I'll ever need, support is the best (they actually talk to you!), and the website is killer and constantly upgraded with new plug-ins and lots of info! Bless you, bless you!"
"The Receptor 2 has rapidly become the central unit in my rig, making it much lighter, more powerful, and giving it new capabilities. Thereís no easier way to go from the studio up to the stage than with the Receptor 2. It lets me use most of the same VSTs and presets from our records, in a clean and compact setup."
Philip de Steiguer
"Whether I'm at my home, or on the road, or recording the studio, Receptor is a must have for musicians who want their best sounds in a reliable package."
Philip de Steiguer
"The Receptor has put the ease into touring that I always needed! Even if you have a lot of sounds, you need not worry when traveling to strange lands and playing strange festivals, the Receptor has always fired up without a hitch and that, my friend, is priceless!"
"Since I started to use Receptor, it has become my integral composing tool. I can't imagine working without one, I'd better get two!
Thank you Muse for such a cool idea with so much functionality."
"The Receptor Pro from Muse Research is the heart of my rig. Touring with Toby [Keith] means I absolutely must have any sound, at a moment's notice. The library that comes with Receptor with Native Instruments Komplete 5 inside makes that trick repeatable, every night. The sound quality is superb... just what I'd expect from a top-notch company with customer support at its core."
“When I found out about the Receptor PRO, an endless array of possibilities opened up for me so I purchased one right away. Due to the limitations on my mobile rack on the Cirque du Soleil gig, I'm not able to use a countless number of keyboards, or a laptop since it wouldn't have the power I need to handle the plug-ins I use.
The Receptor PRO has allowed me to use my favorite plug-ins on stage and elevate my sounds like never before. All I have to do is turn it on, choose my patch from my controller and “Le tour est fait” …pardon my French! This machine has become such a central part of my way of making music that I bought a second one for my studio!
To every musician out there who is looking to upgrade their rig to be like one of the “Big Boys”, you must start by getting yourself a Muse Receptor PRO!
I'm glad to be affiliated with Muse Research, a name synonymous to state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated to reinventing the way we make music”.

"Receptor is an amazing piece of hardware. It has a simple, easy-to-use interface, and I love the fact it's robust and portable. It makes for a great effects rack with all my favorite VST plugs loaded and ready to instantly mangle any sound. Receptor's 57 simultaneous effects, and the ability to control them all via MIDI is mind blowing."
"I am overwhelmed every time I turn on this machine."
"The well thought out architecture makes Receptor extremely useful live and a must have for any electronic musician. Two songs on my new album "Cautella" where completely processed with the Receptor as the main effects unit. It's wonderful having a box that organizes everything into a simple environment."
"When I heard of RECEPTOR in 2004, I immediately ordered one. And I
was happy to see that RECEPTOR did exactly what I expected and had
been searching for years before:
"In fact, RECEPTOR opens up an unbelievable amount of new musical possibilities. Programming complex multisetups with layers, splits, and controller assignments can be done super-fast thanks to the intuitive and easy-to-understand GUI. This makes my workflow much more comfortable.
"RECEPTOR allows me to effectively use a huge arsenal of plugins in a reliable system. Latency-free. Now, I can cover a large variety of styles, even ones that require really different sounds...I'm always up-to-date sound-wise and I always have the most current state-of-the-art plugins/sounds onboard, be it vintage or the 'latest sh*t'.
"Thanks to its reliability and solid steel chassis I have no worries taking my RECEPTORs on with me wherever I go. Even for my past three tribute-showproductions I used RECEPTOR only. Without any problems. I can't imagine not having a RECEPTOR in my keyboard-rig.
"Thank you MUSE RESEARCH for this fabulous product and your excellent support!"
"The last thing you want in the middle of a hot piano solo onstage with the Father of Rock & Roll is the dreaded Blue Screen of Death on your laptop and your sounds circling the digital drain!!! The show wonít stop for a reboot. Thatís why Iíve used the Receptor since Ď09. It sounds better/cleaner/fatter than any hardware synth/module available, you have your choice of THE best up-to-the-minute world-class piano sounds, and itís ten feet tall and bulletproof onstage worldwide. Accept substitutes at your own risk!!!"
"NO!! ...Now everyone will copy.... US!!"
"I love using the Receptor live. It allows me access to an almost limitless sound palette, and the programming interface is extremely user-friendly. Even the plug-ins that come already installed are extremely useful-all in a 2 space rack unit. It's perfect for my gig with Steven Curtis Chapman-his music is very diverse in the keyboard department. Along with organ, piano and EP's, he has some quirky sample-based sounds and analog stuff, so being able to split and layer VST instruments like Kontakt and Sonik Synth makes programming the show a breeze! It also makes local gigging much simpler. For example, I used to drag a Rhodes Mark II, a pedalboard full of stomp boxes, and a tube preamp on gigs with my Steely Dan Tribute. Now I just play the Scarbee Rhodes samples in Kontakt through a stock Receptor plug-in Phaser and it's 'Instant Seventies'-no hand truck needed"
"Receptor has totally changed the way I work in the studio, allowing me to use many more simultaneous virtual instruments then I could with my computer alone. Receptor makes life a breeze using plug-ins, plain and simple. I'm looking forward to using Receptor on live shows too"
"Receptors are the Best. We used to have loads of Synths and computers out on the road, now we just use one rack of Receptors to cover a variety of instruments. This saves us money on freight as well as reducing the tour's carbon footprint."
"Muse Research is a great company to work with, and they provide great support. It's nice to deal with a company that cares about their customers. We now have 6 Receptors that we've used for several years now, all over the globe, and they've all been more than reliable."
"Our Receptors are also super versatile: we can load any of the players' patches into any of the Receptors, which means one Receptor serves many purposes... And since everything is self-contained, our set up time is reduced and it makes our one-off gigs very simple!"
"It isn't often that you can step into the cutting edge frontier in the music business. I am convinced that the Muse Research Receptor has already changed the face of touring and playing live. I was looking for a product that provided the highest quality sound along with the largest palette of sonic colors available, all in a small, simple, flexible, accessible package."
"Eureka! I've found it!"
"The 2 rack-space Receptor allows me to use all my favorite VST instruments and effects. It lets me configure complex splits and layers, manage sample playback, and act as a digital mixer with analog inputs for my favorite traditional synth. It is, simply, the power of my studio in a portable live package. I absolutely could not do a show without the two Receptors that are in my rig. Anything less would be a giant step backwards!"
The Oakridge Boys
"We purchased a Receptor originally as a way to run Ivory while playing live. After using it on tour for a while, we were so blown away with its sound and its versatility that Receptor has replaced the entire keyboard rig! We're so spoiled with the sound quality of plug-ins like B4 and Pro53 on Receptor that we can't stand playing our old keyboards anymore. Not only are the band members pleased, but our FOH and monitor mixers can't believe how Receptor makes all the keyboard sounds come alive.
Now we all have one, and whether we're on tour or working in the studio, our Receptors are right there with us."
The Oakridge Boys
"The Receptor is the best sounding rack unit I've used. Editing the sounds and setting up multis or snapshots, effects, etc. is a pleasure not a chore as the editing interface is logical and quick. You really can't play your best unless you have complete confidence in the sound you're using, and the Receptor really delivers."
Tim Bradshaw, keyboardist, David Gray
"Receptor is a phenomenal instrument - it sounds huge and wherever I play it gives me all the great sounds that would otherwise be confined to a studio. Receptor is also far more rugged than my fragile computer, and since it is compact and doesn't weigh much, it addresses the hassles of touring with acoustic pianos, Hammond organs, Leslie speakers, etc. where transportation is very expensive. I get the sounds that excite and inspire me without any of the downside."
Keyboardist with Whitesnake (formerly with The Eagles, Stevie Nicks, and others...)
"The Muse Receptor is an integral part of my synth setup on Dancing with the Stars...I use it constantly and the enormous variety of sounds and the ease at getting to them is indispensable given the wide range of styles of music we play. It's a wonderful instrument - I love it!"
"The Receptor has proven to be an invaluable addition to my studio, serving as a more versatile replacement for my Giga systems. Its ease of use and the Uniwire features are absolutely priceless, providing much better integration than any other solution out there. Add to that Receptor's compactness that allows me to take it with me everywhere I go. No need to travel with bulky, heavy gear anymore when I take my annual summer trip to the Icelandic midnight sun! Just a laptop and a Receptor and I have the capabilities of a much larger system!"For more information about Veigar's music, please visit www.veigar.com
"We've got a fairly complicated stage setup - we probably use more instruments than is good for us. Before we found the Receptor, we were depending on computers to create some of the sounds we wanted live, which made us all a little nervous. Now we can get the sounds we need and the instruments we want in a reliable, simple package."
"My Receptor with the Native Instruments Komplete suite of software has quickly become one of the most important parts of my rig -- both on stage and in the studio, it is my go-to gear when i need the highest quality audio. I don't know what i'd do without it."
